Landscape artist Lauren Cummings paints in oil on wood panel and canvas across the Verde Valley of Arizona. In 2018, she obtained a BFA in Painting & Drawing from the Tyler School of Art & Architecture after a summer semester in Japan studying contemporary art history. She exhibited in group shows in Philadelphia, PA, Rome, Italy, and Tokyo, Japan. For the next few years, she balanced a career at the historic Shofuso Japanese House & Garden in West Fairmount Park, expanding upon her knowledge of Japanese garden design, art history, and human connectedness. Journeying to “the West” in 2022 to pursue landscape immersion more intently, a body of vibrant work developed between the wilderness of the southwest and the varied adventures of an independent young woman in her 20’s. Lauren continues to document wildfires, rivers, and seasonal changes around Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and California.
Current displays of her recent work can be viewed in the small town of Jerome, Arizona, through Sean Bauer’s gallery.
